Starting a Tesla:

  • Approach the car with the Tesla app installed on your phone, and bluetooth on.

  • Open the car door, sit in the driver's seat, and put your foot on the brake pedal.

  • The car's touchscreen will activate, and you can shift into Drive or Reverse to start driving.

Tesla Charging:

  • To charge at home, use the Mobile Connector located in the lower rear storage compartment. This is a level 1 charger that can be plugged into a standard 110 outlet.

  • Superchargers are the fastest charging option and you can find them using the car's navigation system. These chargers work on the cars account. All charges will be automatically billed through Turo at the end of your trip.

  • Charge Point also provides charging that can be helpful in rural areas. Install the charge point app and create an account to use.

Autopilot and Full Self-Driving:

  • Autopilot is a driver assistance system. Engage it by pulling the Autopilot stalk down while in drive.

  • Autopilot can control acceleration, braking, and steering on highways, but you must keep your hands on the wheel and remain attentive.

  • Full Self-Driving (FSD) offers advanced autonomous features, but it's not fully autonomous and still requires driver supervision.

Regenerative Braking:

  • Tesla cars use regenerative braking to capture energy when you lift off the accelerator pedal. This will cause more forward drag than a typical gas car.

  • This energy is used to recharge the battery and improve efficiency.

Navigation and Charging Stations:

  • Use the car's built-in navigation system to find charging stations along your route.

  • The system will recommend Superchargers or other charging options based on your destination and current battery level.

  • Navigating to super chargers will preheat the battery for faster charging times.

Safety and Security:

  • Tesla vehicles come with advanced safety features, including Autopilot, emergency braking, and collision avoidance.

  • You can use the Tesla app to monitor your car's location and status, lock/unlock the car, and even start the climate control remotely.

Mobile App and Connectivity:

  • The Tesla mobile app allows you to control various car functions, including pre-conditioning the interior, locating your car, and checking battery status.

Energy Display:

  • The touchscreen displays real-time information about your battery's charge, energy consumption, and estimated range. - You can set the display to show power distribution and energy usage by touching the screen.
